FIND YOUR RIDE
BMX may be an Olympic sport, but it's not just for the elite! Get the low-down on the levels and types of racing, training sessions, and what's on offer!

Training/Gates
Ready to elevate your BMX game and have a blast with your crew? Our open training (commonly called "Gates") sessions are the perfect opportunity to dial in your skills, experiment with new techniques, and unleash your full potential on the track. Gates sessions run every Wednesday night, and selected other days throughout the year.

Club Events
Experience the thrill of BMX racing under the Friday night lights at Northern BMX Club! Our club races are held fortnightly (with some exceptions) and cater to beginner and developing riders, offering a fun and supportive introduction to competitive BMX. These events typically focus on participation and skill development, emphasizing a relaxed atmosphere where riders can learn the basics of racing, track etiquette, and improve their technique. While competition is present, the primary goal is to encourage riders to challenge themselves, build confidence, and enjoy the thrill of racing in a less intense environment. Throughout the year, several of our Friday night races are dedicated to our NBMX Stinger Series. These rounds offer an extra level of competition, as riders accumulate points toward their NBMX Stinger Series ranking and are awarded at the end of the series based on their overall standing. Club Series racing fosters great friendly competition and camaraderie with fellow Hornets and visiting riders.

Bronze Events
Bronze or Interclub BMX events are where the action ramps up! These "open" races, hosted by clubs and welcoming all AusCycling license holders, offer a taste of the big leagues. Think club racing, but with a turbo boost! Clubs typically host a Bronze event once or twice a year, so when they do, expect a couple of hundred riders or more, a buzzing atmosphere with club tents lining the track, and bigger competition – which means bigger prizes! While the rules are a bit stricter than your average club race, the focus is still on fun. It's the perfect opportunity to test your skills against a larger field, soak up the electric atmosphere, and experience the thrill of a bigger event without the pressure of national competition. Get ready for a weekend of fast racing, friendly rivalry, and a whole lot of BMX excitement!

Silver Events
Stepping up to Silver level BMX events means you're entering the realm of serious competition! This is where state series racing takes center stage, culminating in the annual State Championships. There are no qualifying requirements, so anyone with an AusCycling license can enter, but don't be fooled – the racing gets fierce! Expect bigger crowds cheering you on, and riders pushing their limits for a coveted spot on the podium. Throughout the state series, riders accumulate points towards their state series ranking. And at the State Championships, the stakes are even higher: the top eight riders in each category earn the prestigious "V" plate, a symbol of their hard work and skill. Silver level events offer a taste of high-level competition, a chance to test yourself against the best in the state, and the opportunity to earn some serious bragging rights.

Gold/Platinum Events
The pinnacle of BMX racing in Australia awaits at the Gold and Platinum levels. Gold events comprise the National Series, a circuit of races held throughout the year across the country. Riders battle it out at these high-stakes events, earning points towards their National Series ranking. This intense competition culminates in the Platinum event: the National Championships. Held annually over a week, this is the ultimate showdown, attracting the best riders from every corner of the nation. The National Championships are hotly contested, with riders pushing themselves to the absolute limit for national glory and a chance to represent Australia on the world stage. The top eight finishers in each category earn the coveted "A" plate, a symbol of their achievement and a mark of their standing in the year ahead. These plates are highly sought after, signifying a rider's place among the elite and granting them bragging rights for the next 12 months. The National Championships aren't just about national glory; they're also a crucial world championship qualifier, meaning the stakes are incredibly high. Expect world-class racing, massive crowds, and an electrifying atmosphere.
